CONSISTENCY IS KEY

Hey guys!

Today I want to talk about consistency.  So often we get SO excited about a new goal.  To the point that we use all the excitement up in the first few weeks and then it completely drains us and we quit.  Short lived, right?

I know I am not alone when I say this has happened to me on a few occasions!

Think about a time it has happened to you.  What was your goal?  What was your plan?  Did you even have a plan?  How long did you last in the goal?  Did you give it enough time?

Let that last part really sink in.  Did you give it enough time?

Often times, we quit something right before it is about to be great.  And honestly, thats just depressing.

So let's talk about consistency in your fitness.

When you start a new program, or maybe just switching things up in your current plan, you need to be consistent.  That does NOT mean that you should do the same workout consistently.

I mean quite the opposite actually.

You need to be consistently challenging yourself.  Keep your body guessing with different exercises and variations of sets/reps.  {if you follow my GET FIT WITH BRITT program, I take care of all of this for you}

What does this consistent challenge actually do though?

Basically, when you are trying to change something, you have to FIGHT your body to do so.  It finds homeostasis within all aspects of your body - and it is happy there.  You have to really WORK to break your current set points.  {click here to learn more on this topic}

So how long do I have to be consistent?

Ideally, forever!  But I will tell you this.  Give your body about 12 weeks to really start adapting to a new program and a new challenge.  12 WEEKS?!?!  Yes!  Trust me.  Those 3 months are either going to go by with no change, or they can bring a whole new you.  It's up to you.

Now let's talk about consistency in your nutrition.

Going into becoming a trainer, I had no idea how much of an impact nutrition would have.  But it has become a huge part of my coaching and my training.  Adapting my own nutrition to my body and my life has made such a huge impact on me.  I feel happier and healthier.  But that is when I am consistent with my meals/snacks/water.

Okay, let me also say that I am ALL for balance in your life: if you want to eat a cake for your birthday, go for it.  But, I do want you to understand what that will do inside your body.  {that is where my coaching comes in}

Being consistent in your nutrition is very similar to being consistent in your fitness.

Consistently bring in variety, in your meals and snacks.  This will aid in nourishing your body with different vitamins and minerals {micronutrients} which are vital in many chemical reactions within your body.

Also, you want to be consistent in eating.  Plain and simple.  Eat often and eat well.  This helps keep your blood sugar at a stable level throughout the day.  We should avoid our blood sugar raising or falling too much!

TIPS FOR STAYING CONSISTENT

Follow a program!  So many people think they can "figure it out" themselves.  But let's be honest guys.  I've got my Bachelors in Exercise Science, I've been a certified personal trainer for 7 years, I consistently read and do continuing education classes {currently taking the Precision Nutrition Level 1 Course}, and I've worked with hundreds of people to get real results.  I literally live and breathe this stuff!

You can work with me in my Online Gym GET FIT WITH BRITT or working one on one with a Personalized Program.  But you don't have to work with me ; ) ...  Reach out to a trainer at your local gym!

Make a plan!  Schedule your health into your daily life.  Your workouts.  Your meals.  Your planning.  Your prepping.

Set new goals often!  They don't have to be big.  Just new.  Keep it exciting!!

STAY HAPPY / STAY HEALTHY

Remember, like I mentioned above.  I am all about balance in life.  By finding your balance in fitness + wellness + nutrition + lifestyle ... you are going to find that everything is just a little more do-able!  So maybe you have an off day here and there.  That doesn't mean that you failed.  That doesn't mean that you quit.  That means that you get an opportunity to LEARN how to approach it next time.  Every single day is a chance for a new start.
