PREP FOR THE HOLIDAYS

The holidays are right around the corner...literally like next week is Thanksgiving!  I have NO idea how it snuck up so fast! 

Anyways....I have SO many people get concerned about how they will stick with their program - or even more challenging yet, START a program through the holidays!  Well, have no fear!  All you need is a plan!

  1. Get out your calendar
  2. Schedule just 1 full week at a time (Monday-Sunday)
  3. Select your 'Rest/Off' days (days you know that you won't have time to workout)
  4. Now schedule in your Strength Training/Get Fit With Britt days (they typically take more time! 30-60 min)
  5. Schedule in your Cardio days (usually anywhere from 20-40 minutes)

Seems easy right?  Well, on paper maybe.  But more important than making a plan is sticking to it.  And THAT is the goal!

Ask yourself these simple questions, in order...

  • What is my goal for the Holidays? (start program, lose 5lbs, just maintain routine/weight through holidays etc.)
  • What typically gets in my way? (sweets/alcohol/holiday parties/combo of everything etc.)
  • What can I do to avoid letting my weakness affect my goal?  (eat nutritious meal before you go to parties, don't buy sweets for at home, limit to 1-2 drinks per event etc.)
  • If it does happen?  What will my response be?  (make sure you set up a positive response - Ex: accepting that it happened, take a deep breath, and forget about it! Never let it get you down!)
  • How will you 'celebrate' your health success after the Holidays?  (I don't recommend food celebrations - I recommend to celebrate with a new gym outfit, new shoes, new equipment, massage, etc. - something that is uplifting and encourages you to keep going!)

How did that go?  I hope you got through it with ease.  If not...do it again!  ;)  I typically ask myself these questions on a monthly basis - as things are always changing!  (as in sometimes my weakness is brownies and sometimes its ice cream! lol!)  But in all seriousness... IT IS HARD TO GET STARTED & STICK WITH IT... AND YOU ARE NOT ALONE!!!!

There is NO shame in admitting that getting there is hard.  BUT... I won't sit back and say that it is okay not to try!  You get ONE body...ONE life...ONE chance to live your best life!  Do NOT take that for granted!
